I would guess that I am not the only Irish person who after all these years can sing this song word perfect from beginning to end! Just goes to show what an effective and truly brilliant road safety campaign it was back then (1970?). The Safe Cross Code badge featuring Judge of Wanderly Wagon fame (see photo) was given to every child in Ireland who could prove that they knew "the code" and I remember wearing mine with pride and a certain swagger!"
