Religious record with artwork by Cor Klaasen

"This album from 1969 is one of a set of religious albums issued by Mercier Press in Cork. It features cover art by Cor Klaasen, which is the reason I've chosen this as a worthy object. Klaasen was from Holland originally but became an Irish citizen in 1962 and he designed covers for multiple Irish books and records during the 1960s and 1970s. A lot of the books were school books and are likely to resonate with thousands of school goers from that period. His striking covers made school days more colourful and opening those dreaded books a little bit more interesting. The sublime cover of this record is typical of the exciting and positive work produced by Klaasen. The fact that it holds and protects a vinyl record about religion, says so much about Ireland at that time. "
