St. Patrick's Day Brooch

"This brooch belonged to my grandmother Mary Gaughan Drum Belmullet. She wore it every St. Patrick's Day and I always admired it. When she passed away my Aunties kindly asked me if I would like anything in particular from my grandmother and I asked for the brooch. Only then did I find out that my father Malachy Gaughan had bought the brooch as a gift for his mother when he was on a school tour. It is amazing to me that over 50 years later the shamrock is still perfect. It is one of my most treasured possessions and I wear it proudly each year. "
