Encyclopaedia Brittanica with inscriptions

"This set of encyclopaedia was purchased by my great grandfather Frederick Lowe. Each one is inscribed with his hopes and dreams and his crest is also attached. My great grandfather was a scrivener in the law courts so his writing is a beautiful copperplate. He writes of his family, his country, his Christian faith as well as his hopes for the future. He has also set out a family tree. We find the inscriptions fascinating although many of the items in the encyclopaedia are rather outdated! "
