Rupert Bear Annuals

"As a child of the 50's I became familiar with little Rupert Bear, especially at Christmas when the "Rupert Bear Annual" was part of my bumper Christmas present. As a consequence, I became an avid collector of all Rupert Annuals from 1936 to this day and I still faithfully buy the Annual every year in Eason's Bookshop. Of Historical interest, during the Emergency, the Daily Express Newspapers never ceased to publish Rupert every single year throughout WW2. My photo here shows two of my treasured (1946 & 1948) Annuals. The most historically interesting fact is, that during wartime and indeed throughout the 40's for a while thereafter, Little Rupert was printed on special "war economy paper". This of course adds to their value and interest now. "
