The Boys of Ballisodare 3rd folk and traditional Music Festival (1979)

"The Boys of Ballisodare 3rd folk and traditional Music Festival in 1979 presented "a prestigious line up of folk and traditional acts" which included "as well as national and international names a fair sprinkling of the truly excellent musicians who live in the locality". The programme details speak for themselves: Clannad, Planxty, The Bothy Band, Stockton's Wing, Paul Brady, Sean Cannon, Paddy Keenan and Paddy Glackin, Noel Hill and Tony Linnane, Barry Moore, Johnny Moynihan and Rick Epping, Martin Carthy, Dick Gaughan, Hamish Imlach, Jim Page (author of Hiroshima Nagasaki Russian Roulette), Dan Crary, etc. Nicky Ryan (later Enya's producer) was in charge of the sound system for the whole festival, Planxty were in their original line up plus Matt Molloy on flute, also featured the Bothy Band's last live performance; notable as well for marking Paul Brady's transition/return from folk to rock (he had to buy his piano locally!)."
