Matchstick Celtic Cross
"This matchstick and broken glass Celtic Cross was made by a Republican prisoner named William O'Mahony while incarcerated in Cork Gaol during the Civil War in 1922. The cross was given by the ex-prisoner to my father's cousin in the 1920s in recognition of her role in Cumann na mBan during the War of Independence. All these artefacts (as well as many other objects and specimens) are now on view in my antiquarian bookshop; Gadaí Dubh Books, in Ballymakeera village, Macroom, Co. Cork. Gadaí Dubh Books is on Facebook."
