Old bottles of ink used in the Civil service plus stamper

"These two bottles of ink along with a stamper were in the possession of my father Joe Carroll, who lived in Dollymount, Clontarf. They spent most of their life in a wooden box of "bits and pieces" on the kitchen window sill of our home. My father worked in the Irish Army during the National Emergency (1940s) at Army Headquarters and later as a civil servant in, inter alia, the Department of Industry and Commerce and the Department of Supplies. Where this ink was used is therefore a matter of speculation. The "brick red" ink on the left comes from the company Winsor and Newson Ltd., London (NOT Windsor). This company was founded in 1832 and was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1841. The ink is waterproof and can be thinned according to the bottle with distilled water or clean rain water. The company still exists. The green bottle on the right is called rubber stamp ink on the bottle and comes from Oifig an tSoláthair."
