Uncle Kyran's Sam Brown belt
"This is the Sam brown belt that my grand Uncle Kyran Dunphy wore during WW1. He was wounded in WWI, awarded the Military Cross for bravery, came home to Ireland and joined the RIC. He was killed in an ambush while on patrol with the RIC but an element of mystery about his service remains , as he was never discharged from the British Army and was deemed killed in action. Some day soon, I'd like to head over to the British War Museum and try and find out what is the full story of his life . This Sam Brown belt is our momento of a very unusual, but short life, of a family member."
