Creamery Scenes

"Photo 1 dates from the 1930 and shows the queue delivering milk.at Lombardstown creamery. All of the milk churns are of the early type. Photo 2 shows prosperity with motor cars replacing the horse and this one dates from the mid 1960's. The 3rd photo was taken in 1982 and is of the last horse delivery of milk and the end of an nostalgic era as the creamery closed for milk intake that year. Lombardstown creamery was the second co-operative creamery to open in the country with strong recommendations by Sir Horace Plunkett. Throughout my school years I used to deliver my family,s milk to that creamery by horse and cart during holiday periods and I am currently compiling a history of the enterprise because of its importance in the development of the co-operative creamery movement.
