A Plan for National Recovery 1943 edition
"This second edition was published by the GAA in 1943 and was in the possession of my father Joe Carroll of Clontarf, who was a Captain in the Irish Army during the period of the "Emergency". It covers topics such as Nationalism, Partition, Education, Fashion, Games and Pastimes, and encouragement of an increase in population. It recommended, inter alia, that the Government should deal firmly with aliens and undesirable infiltration, and that early marriage and large families should be championed, that bachelors should be heavily taxed and that the wives of well-to-do men should be debarred from public positions!"
