Conway box camera
"This box camera belonged to my mother who used it to take dozens of photographs of the family. These she stored in albums which provided great memories for all the family in the years since then. I remember so well loading the roll of film in our walk in hotpress to ensure no light reached the unexposed film. When taking a picture you had to hold the camera at waist level and peer at the image through the small window before sliding the lever to take the photo. The roll of film then had to be brought to the chemist to get the photos developed. The thrill of collecting the photos to see how the came out was often short lived when you discovered some were over exposed or even blank. I'm sure there was a camera like this in most households in Ireland in the 1950's."
