Dial Telephone with Index

"These telephones were much sought after and valued pieces of equipment. In the 1970s you could be waiting 2-3 years to be connected. You couldn't buy the phone you had to rent from the P&T. There was no redial nor was there a contacts list and with the need to redial it was just as well numbers were only 3 or 4 digits. The index is the equivalent of a contacts list. Names and numbers were written on the cards alphabetically and could be searched alphabetically with the A-Z keys. The phone still works well and is comfortable to use however frustrating when asked to press 1 for accounts 2 for sales etc. etc. "
