Antrim GAA
"My maternal grandfather, John Coburn, captained Antrim on the last time the county reached the All Ireland Football Final, in 1912. In those years, in Ulster anyway, medals were not presented to team members who won the provincial championship. Medals were eventually presented in 2012 in the Titanic Centre in Belfast to recognise the achievements of that Antrim team that had one 6 consecutive Ulster championships and Ulster GAA named the team "the Titanic Team". My grandfather served the Antrim GAA for many years and in 1953 was presented with an illuminated address to commemorate his 50 years membership of the GAA. In 2012, the local morning paper “The Irish News” published a photograph of the 1912 team. My grandfather is seated in the front row holding the ball."
