Copy of Deed of Transfer to John Lennon of Dorinish Island
"This is a copy of the Deed of Transfer of Dorinish Island transferring title to John Lennon. The original is held in the Land Registry, Dublin. The island was bought at auction in 1967 in trust for Lennon by Alistair Taylor. This Deed transfers the legal interest to Lennon. It appears to be part of a tidying up of his affairs that he undertook in 1979 and 1980 – his will is dated November 1979. Interestingly, the stamp duty on the Deed indicates that this transaction was not finalised for registration until May 1980, less than 8 months before he was killed. Lennon is described as a ‘Company Director’ and uses the style John Lennon - not John Winston Ono Lennon. He almost certainly executed the Deed in New York despite the London address given for the witness to his signature. "
