1970's Work Stamps

"These were from the last months I worked before I had kids. This would’ve been the equivalent of a PRSI receipt. Some with £3.25 value, then increases to £4.55 – the state determined that if you wanted to claim the dole, you’d have to show that you were up to date on stamps. If some were missing, you wouldn’t get the dole. If someone working with me hadn’t put some in, they would’ve been committing an offence because I’d made my contribution. "
