Mantilla Headscard

"This is a black lace, machine made mantilla. I remember wearing this Mantilla when I was a child. However by the time I was 7 I don't remember people wearing them. I'm not sure if people still wore them in the 1960s. My Mother would have gone to buy this for me. I remember it being clipped onto my head. The priests wore three pointed hats at the time and my husband, Philip remembers his sister deciding that if the priests could stop wearing them then she could too. Women had to have their heads covered in the Catholic church and the mantillas were a cheaper option than a hat."
