Christmas Carousel

"This Christmas carousel which had a wind up feature playing a Christmas carol was purchased by my parents Joe and Madeleine Carroll of Dollymount, Clontarf, at some point during the 1950s. It was taken out every Christmas by my mother until her death in 1981 and has remained silent but not forgotten since then. Every year an American relative, Christopher Manning of Holyoke, the USA, sent my father a few dollars at Christmas time and this was one of the purchases resulting from his generosity. Receiving cash gifts from American relatives was a common practice at that time."
