RTV Guide from April 8th 1966 - celebrating 50th Anniversary of the Easter Rising

"I found this item when I was clearing out my late parents home. I believe it came from my grandparent's house originally as they had a TV set in 1966 when we didn't. It had been hidden away in a box in the attic until I rediscovered it. No doubt somebody had thought it worth preserving. I think it is a valuable cultural picture of an Ireland long gone and shows how a relatively recent medium (television) was used to commemorate an event that many still living at the time had lived through. It also shows, in the array of programmes available, how the modern and outside world was starting to encroach on an older version of Ireland."
