Signed Barry Desmond Canvass Card from February 1982

"This was signed by Barry Desmond for me outside the polling station in Deansgrange in february 1982 as I waited for my parents to vote. I was 12 years old and it became the first item in a collection of political ephemera that has grown to around 25,000 items. I now have leaflets, posters, stickers and other political ephemera covering the last 100 years of Irish politics. I've done exhibitions and run a website showing off some of the material. 32 years after the original encounter, Barry Desmond kindly visited an exhibition of political ephemera in The National Print Museum and left a box of wonderful material there for me. Having a penchant for political ephemera himself he was thrilled at his role in starting my collection! "
