Cleek (Clíoc)

"This iron cleek, or clíoc was used in early times, and right up to the 1960s, to hold the pig securely while it was being slaughtered. In previous centuries pigs were slaughtered by a local ‘butcher’ who travelled from house to house, usually in the Autumn. The method used was to drive the point out through the jaw. One man then held the pig firmly by the handle while another straddled the pig to deliver the coup de grace prior to butchering. "
