The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem -Reunion
"The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem Renunion This album was recorded at a concert in Lincoln Centre, New York City on May 20, 1984, as part of the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem 25th Anniversary World Tour by the original founding members of the group Paddy, Tom and Liam Clancy and Tommy Makem, the tickets selling out within a week of going on sale. The most famous Irish ballad singers in the world, the phenomenal success of The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem gave the Irish at home and abroad a new pride in their heritage when they burst upon the international folk scene in Greenwich Village in New York City in 1963. Spectacular entertainers in their trademark bainín Aran sweaters, they had the audience in the palms of their hands, from the moment they appeared on stage. Their repertoire included some of their most popular songs: Whistling Gypsy Rover, Finnegan’s Wake, Carrickfergus, Wild Rover, Jug of Punch, The Leaving of Liverpool, The Wild Colonial Boy, Holy Ground, Will You Go Lassie Go, The Parting Glass. Liam’s wife Kim and I were in the fourth row and sang our hearts out with the rest of the audience that night! The project co-ordinator was Maurice Cassidy for Maurice Cassidy Promotions Ltd., Dublin, Ireland. The album on Ogham was distributed by CBS Records (Ireland). Submitted by Joan Clancy, widow of Tom Clancy "
