Sail Aid
"Following Bob Geldolf's highlighting the issue of famine in Africa, and his subsequent LIVE AID concert, many other organisations decided to fund-raise for Mr. Geldolf's organisation. Dublin Bay Sailing Club organised a fund-raising event in Dun Laoghaire, which reminded Irish people of our famine of the 1840s- when the Irish people needed held from outside agencies. By organising this event, vital food, vehicles and support was sent to the Horn of Africa. Those people competing in the fund-raising event were obliged to fly this flag (with the words SAIL AID on a map of Africa) to show that they had contributed."
