UN flag from Conor Cruise OBrien,s vehicle Congo 1961

"It is a UN flag which was flown on Conor Cruise O Brien's vehicle in 1961 in the Congo. In 1961 my father John Molloy was part of the Irish Army UN peacekeeping force in the Congo . He was an army chef in 36 BN 1961 - 1962 and 39 BN in 1963, and was stationed at Kickham Barracks Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. In 1961 Conor Cruise O, Brien visited as part of the UN negotiations etc. and the flag which was on his vehicle was torn off and a friend of my fathers saved it and passed it onto my father. "
