Domestic Fire Bellows

"A machine common to many rural domestic fireplaces. The lower part was sunken in the fireside floor with an extension underfloor pipe linking the left hand bottom protusion to beneath the embers of turf in the fireplace. A leather belt linked the 'winder' wheel to the axle of the fan within the main casing. A simple turn of the wheel was enough to revive a slumbering fire to a fine blaze."
