Gun Holster

"This gun holster was worn by my granddad, Det. Officer Arthur Nolan DMP, Garda number 11993. He was murdered in 1924 in Pearse St Garda station, and was given a state funeral. With the political turmoil of the time, he was completely forgotton by the state he had served and was only officially recognised in 2011 and his name was then added to the garda roll of honour in the garden of remembrance Dublin castle. The holster was brought to Canada in 1955 by his eldest son John, and has only recently been returned to Ireland. The photo shows the holster, his photo and Garda medal presented to his family 2011."
