Vintage Philips Radio
"This was my late Parent's radio (Robbie and Joan Fox), and I remember it working when I was a child. As children, we would have fun turning the dials as it searched through the crackling static until it found a station we could listen to, but still had static in the background. My Parents bought it in the 1950's or 60's, and has been in the family ever since. It was left in my parent's garage for many years where it began to fall apart from the damp and cold. I asked my parents could I take it, even though it now didn't work, in the hope of some day being able to restore it. It now proudly sits on display in my sitting room, though still waiting to restore it. I also love the style of the radio, how it was designed and is clearly from a time long gone. It's an attractive piece of technology. I have worked as an independent Producer/Presenter on national radio (RTE Radio 1 / Newstalk 106-108FM) and have a love of radio, and can imagine my parents as a young married couple 'huddled around the old wireless' (as described by them many times) listening to music, drama, and the all important news of the day. So this radio is very important to me. "
