Confirmation Outfit

"This dress was purchased in Roches Stores in Cork just in time for the confirmation. It was down to the wire, my mother wanted me to wear a two-piece, a ‘costume’ as it was known at that time. But I chose this dress because lemon was my favourite colour and my father said: “It’s her day, let her have her choice”. I remember my confirmation day very well as I was the last person that day to be confirmed and also because it was Dr Conn Lucey who gave two sermons – one for the adult congregation and one for the boys and girls. My father was my teacher and he had to sponsor all the boys in the boys’ group in his school."
