German Iron Cross
"My grandmother's brother Fr John J. O'Donnell Mac Sheahan SJ served as a Military Chaplain with the British Army in 1917-18. He was awarded the DSO Military Cross with bar for bravery. He wore a Red Cross armband as he assisted the medical teams. He tended to German soldiers as well and one German soldier gave him his Iron Cross. "
