Sample of WW1 Postcards (1917, printed in France, Gaelic Language)
"These are samples of a collection of Gaelic language postcards found with papers belonging to Douglas Hyde in 1960s in an office in North Great George's St, Dublin. The cards are unused. The cards were printed in France apparently for use by Irish soldiers to send home and to encourage the use of Gaelic. The Douglas Hyde papers that were found with these cards were donated to UCD (Folklore Department), together with approx 20 other similar postcards."
