Ironing Board

"This is an ironing board that my mammy won in a baking competition. We were all very proud of it and still are. It is important to me because of the excitement when she won it and also how useful it remains today given it's sturdiness. It was ultra modern at the time because you could slip the iron into the socket for it to heat. The prize also included a presser which we no longer have. It is important for Ireland as it was one of the items used to promote electrification and improve the lives of women, reducing the time spent on domestic duties. "
