Cobblers Last

"This is a cobbler last - it’s for repairing shoes. My father owned it. It comes from Meath. In the 1930's and 40's, every family had one of these for repairing their shoes. You couldn’t afford to buy new shoes or bring it to the cobbler so you would fix them yourself. It was work, it was the responsibility of the father or husband to do it. It was most likely inherited. It was used in my immediate family from the 30s to the early 60s. "
