Stone Ginger Beer Bottle and Clothes Iron
"This bottle belonged to my mother-in-law in Limerick and as far as she was aware it came out of an excavation in Ardnacrusha Power Station. It dates back to the late-nineteenth century. I acquired this David Crystal gas-operated iron as part of a miscellaneous lot at an auction in the mid-1980s for approximately £5. It is an advancement on older technology in Ireland for ironing clothes which entailed putting an iron block into a fire, reddening it and then putting it into an iron-shaped casing. "
