Gem razor
"This reminds me of Irish-America and Ireland in the 1920s - when emigration to the US was rife and some members of families never saw home again. It belonged to my Grandfather. He received it from his sister in New York. There would be such excitement when a package arrived from 'the States' or if 'the Yank' did happen to come home for a visit. Getting something from those who had immigrated always seems like it was more special and important than anything received at home. The way in which the razor, its blades and blade case - even the instruction leaflets - has been cared for over the years is testament to how important a place it held in the heart and mind of my Grandfather. It perhaps connected him to his sister (who never came home again), whenever he used it."
