The Sins of the father

"The object I received at the end of a play .The venue was the Gloucester street laundry in Dublin. .It is important to me because this object represents ,the pain ,suffering isolation of a poor ,unwanted Irish female, population .It represents an Irish culture of silence , of abuse , of corruption and power used by those in authority to socially engineer the poor and helpless out of existence. It represents the crimes against humanity committed in this country, in order that religious orders can amass large portfolios of property , paid for and maintained by the labour and earnings of poor girls and women , nobody wanted . It represents the arrogance of ,organisations who can with hold valuable documents from the history of this country. The document could prove that the properties were acquired and maintained over the decades by illegal entrapment and exploitation of these girls and women. To exclude this part of Irish culture would be to exclude the essence of who we were for decades in this country ."
