Grandad's Agricultural Show Successes

"My maternal Grandad Peter Donohue was born on March 3rd 1883 and from the age of 13 in 1896 he exhibited at the Ballinasloe Agricultural Show and many others. The newspapers covered a story on him in 1970 as he had entered his potatoes for 74 consecutive years. He was a fit, athletic man who also loved to sing and recite poetry. He was witty and quick answering and I am proud to have one of his medals from 1926."
