Sacred Heart Medal

" A Sacred Heart Medal from St Patrick’s Church in Ringsend. It was given to my great uncle George on his 50th anniversary (1905-1956). He’d been in the Sodality for men in the church in Ringsend. I say he’d probably joined it when he was 14 or 15. This would have been when the old church was there. Around 1916 they built the new church. I lived in the same house as him. My mother gave it to me when I was going away to live in Canada. He had given it to her and she passed it on to me. I've had it since 1981. He was a single man; never got married. His social life was very centred around the church. Any of the fundraising or charitable work they did was based with the church. "
