Glass claret jug with silver hinged top, and handle

"My Grandfather Bernard Fagan, a Dublin publican, won the jug in a penny farthing race in the Phoenix Park, 1890, approx. He gave it to his brother, Michael, who set it behind the bar of his ‘lock-up’ pub, on the North Strand. The area was bombed by the Germans in May 1941. The pub was flattened, but the jug was picked, undamaged, from the ruins... This was the history of the jug as told to me by the Aunt who passed it on to me."
