Christening Dress

"'Twas my granny made it in around '49 for me. I was christened in 1950 and I was the first to be christened in it. As far as I know the inside is made out of the old flour bags. Otherwise I suppose that would be a bit of cotton sown onto it. She used to make a lot of stuff out of flour bags. Her name was Katherine Hourihan – she was also the granny of Bertie Ahern who is my first cousin. There's a photo of her with my grandfather, Bartholomew – that's where Bertie got his name from. "
