Tool hand stamp, belonging to my great grandfather, John Conroy
"This steel name hand stamp belonged to my great grandfather, John Conroy, who was a carpenter and undertaker in Portlaoise (then called Maryborough), County Laois. He would have used this stamp to mark the wooden tools of his trade. I have a number of his chisels, bench planes and moulding planes- all marked with this very stamp-"J. Conroy". The moulding plane included in the photos was made/ supplied by Booth Brothers of Stephens Street, Dublin- one of the few tool makers and engineering suppliers in the country at the time."
