"Thomas Henshaw & Co, Wholesale Ironmongers, Iron and Steel. Merchants and Manufacturers, 5-6 & 12 Christ Church Place. Founded by Bryan Murphy in 1794 at the rear at 28 Kennedy’s Lane; in 1834 he moved when the business was called Murphy, Son and Butler. Butler, an alderman, became sole proprietor and sold the business to Thomas and Alfred Henshaw in 1856. Premises included stores and warehouses in Kennedy’s Lane, warehouse in Middle Abbey St and iron works, spade and shovel factory at Upper and Lower Mills, Clonskeagh."
