Limerick Soviet Currency

"This note was produced during the general strike in Limerick in 1919, commonly known as the Limerick Soviet. It is one of several notes of different denominations we hold as a family. One of the signatories on these notes is my great grandfather John Cronin who was leader of the Limerick Soviet campaign. He was the head of the Carpenters Union in Limerick at the time and that’s how he got involved in the Soviet. He was a renowned carpenter and his work can still be seen around Limerick today, including the confessional boxes in St. Saviour’s Church."
