Military Cross WW1 Edward Alexander Stoker
"Three of my Dads uncles from Douglas, Cork fought and died died in WW1 as very young men. Their baby brother Lionel St John Stoker was my Grandad who had he not been too young to enlist, I would not be here today. Two brothers Edward and Victor died in action in France and Douglas died later at home in Cliftongrange, from shrapnel wounds received in action. Photos of the Military Cross medals issued by King George RJ for Edward Alexander Morris Stoker and Victor Carmichael Stoker with an article in The Cork Examiner. Imagine my Great Grand Mother lost three of her four young sons in WW1 within a few short years. I lost my own son 5 years ago in a car accident and I cannot imagine how my Great Grand Mother survived such a tragic loss. "
